人間處處有活菩薩
.
曾經我遇過一位老太太，常常獨自一人在居住的大樓底下收拾垃圾，我瞧她的年紀，兒孫也該滿堂了，就開口問：「怎麼每天只看見您一人在收拾呢？您的兒女沒一起來幫忙嗎？」
.
她說：「孩子們下班都累了，在家中休息呢。不打緊，我一人做得可開心了，也正好可以讓我鬆鬆筋骨。」
.
當大家都下班在家休息時，只有默默的在回收區，不求任何回報，毫無怨言的幫大家將垃圾分類。有些時候會有一些年輕人和她一起幹活，但那些年輕人總是充滿不甘願的神情，見了人也不打招呼，臉色非常難看。
.
但老太太就不一樣了，雖然她幹的是如此勞心勞力的粗活，但臉上從來沒有一絲不悅，相反的，即使手中工作再忙，見到了人他總是面帶微笑地和人打招呼：「你今天過得好嗎？」態度總是落落大方、彬彬有禮。
.
身處於社會的角落，默默付出貢獻，默默的帶給世界美好。這種不為自己，只為了他人而付出的關懷大愛，自然能散發出一股出汙泥而不染的高貴氣息，這正是最真實的菩薩慈悲心腸，是裝也裝不出來的。即使他們做的是粗工粗活，但卻比誰都還要樂意付出，這就是人間活菩薩！
.
所以，只要有心，處處可以發現他們的蹤跡，只要有心，你也可以成為人間菩薩，千萬不要忽視自己小小的力量和改變，因為那都是整個社會進步的重要螺絲釘！

【能力vs本事，哪個重要？】

能力vs本事，哪個重要？
.
有本事的做老闆，有能力的做主管？！怎麼說呢？？
舉個真實範例給大家參考研究...
.
有一位女同修她在一家公司上班！
她的英文、文書處理、電腦、口才、技術等都沒有別人好。
但她在公司各部門中，就屬她的薪水最高，為什麼？
因為，無論老闆交代下什麼工作，她都能快速並且很圓滿的將它完成。
不論過程有多少障礙，只要她出面，她就是有辨法把事處理好。
這就是一個人的本事。

回頭想想，其實社會上很多有能力的人，卻整天只是覺得自己懷才不遇、時運不佳、怨天尤人，最後空有能力卻一事無成！
.
學習，使自己成為一個有能力也有本事的人，
正向積極、能勇敢面對挫折，並且冷靜解決問題的人，就是有本事的人。

Ability vs Capability – which is more important?

A capable person will become a boss, while someone with ability will just be a supervisor. Why is that so? Let me give you a real-life example…

One of our female practitioners works in a particular company. Her English, secretarial and computer skills are mediocre and she is also not particularly eloquent. However, she has the highest pay in her company’s payroll. Why is that so?

The reason lies in her ability to produce good results very quickly for every task that her boss assigns to her. She has the capability to overcome all obstacles to get the tasks completed, which makes her a capable person.

Take a close look around us and you will notice that there are many people with great ability in today’s society. They do not accomplish much as they spend too much time lamenting over their ill luck and grumbling about the lack of recognition from their superiors.

Be a person who learns how to turn ability into actual capability. Be that capable person who faces obstacles with courage as well as positivity and solves problem with a calm mind.

【猜猜拳，猜佛在哪?】

猜猜拳，猜佛在哪?
.
依山傍海是溫哥華獨有的風光，只要一得空，我就喜歡四處走走看看，在一個微風的午後，我和幾個同修漫步到了一處公園，正巧看見兩個小娃兒玩得正起勁，兩個孩子特別吸引我的注意，因為娃兒倆玩的是有點兒狠的猜拳遊戲。
.
他們的遊戲規則是：「猜輸的人可以用手彈對方額頭，或拉對方耳朵。」大孩子可能是經驗比較豐富，所以猜拳一直贏，也毫不手軟的彈小娃兒的額頭。
.
過不了多久，小娃兒的頭就被彈得滿頭包了！大孩子取笑小娃說：「哈哈哈你看看你的頭…好像佛頭啊！」 小娃兒不發一語，願賭服輸，風度十足。
.
接著兩人又繼續猜，大孩子還是一直贏，他改拉對方耳朵，一會兒小娃兒的耳朵就變得又紅又腫，大孩子笑得更大聲了：「哈哈哈，你的耳朵，就像佛耳一樣大！真是太逗啦！」小娃兒一樣願賭服輸，風度十足。
.
終於，小娃兒在一回合猜拳中贏了，他舉起正要彈人的手勢，忽然間看到對面的鏡子，鏡中的自己正舉著彈指手勢、滿頭包、大耳朵，真的跟佛好像啊！就噗嗤一聲哈哈大笑！
.
最後，小娃兒選擇了不彈對方額頭，即使他猜拳猜贏了！
大孩子想想也覺得自己可能下手太重，不該這樣欺負比他年幼的朋友，就拉著小娃兒的手請他吃冰去了，猜拳遊戲就此歡喜收場。
.
看完了娃兒倆逗趣的這一場鬧，你是否有所感悟呢？
原來擁有「慈悲心」才是佛的本意啊！
.
也許，人生就像是一場猜拳遊戲，在當中無論你是輸還是贏，擁有一顆「慈悲心」，就能化解僵局，皆大歡喜的收場，這才是人生中的最大贏家！當你能放下自身痛苦，不將痛苦加諸於他人時，那你就擁有了佛的「慈悲心」，當下你就是佛了！

《抽籤真的靈嗎？》

抽籤真的靈嗎？
.
在加拿大溫哥華最近的閉關班上，有來自世界各地的學員來學習。有一位亞洲來的學員，跟我比較熟，碰見我，很苦惱地說：
「師父，您幫幫我啊，我最近好煩惱啊：吃啥啥不香，看電影也沒有興趣，在亞洲各個國家我也旅遊了一圈，名山大川都去參訪了，卻還是沒有任何生活的靈感與動力，我該怎麼辦啊？！」她一臉苦相。
.
我說：「怎麼啦，事業不順了，還是孩子不聽話了？」
.
她說：「師父，都不是！我的事業有人幫我打理，業績蒸蒸日上，根本不用操心；孩子的事業也有特別好的開端，也都不用我操心。可是我自己就是不知道怎麼回事，提不起精神來。她一邊說話，一邊低頭看著腳。
.
我仔細看看她，感覺到她其實已經徬徨一段時間了，因為各方面都很美滿，所以沒了人生的動力。
.
我告訴她：「明天就開課了，你先上課吧，別急。」
她點點頭說：「好。」
.
第二天上完課，她又見到我，就像換了一個人似的，神采煥發、笑臉盈盈的老遠就大聲地跟我打招呼：「師父！您今天講課簡直就是講給我聽的！」
.
我說：「發生什麼事情了？」
.
「師父，真的很神奇呢！我早上一早起來，去佛前禮拜，心裏求佛保佑我，希望在這個課程中，給我一些靈感，讓我能夠振作起來。拜完我就去抽籤，您猜怎麼著？」
.
我也很好奇：「你抽到什麼？」
.
「我抽到一隻籤，上面寫著『立下目標，去幫助大眾！』我心想，我現在這個樣子，還能怎麼去幫別人呢?
.
沒想到，之後上課您就講了：要給自己設立一個更高的願望，當我們有了一個新的願望之後，就可能放下這些天最困擾妳的事情，你的精神裡頭那些通道，就會通暢了。那你的身體裡呢，你的氣、血液、營養、氧氣等等的，還有你的內臟都會正常的工作和運行。因為，給自己設立一個『更高的願望』，這本身就是最健康的精神行為。」
.
我忽然間就跟醍醐灌頂似的，一下子明白了，那支籤就是我要找的下一個人生目標！我未來的人生就該去幫助大眾！我立即想到很多可以做的事情，就像您講的，大腦突然就特別清醒，整個人充滿了能量和動力！原來的那些煩惱和不知所措都一下子煙消雲散了！」
.
我聽了也替她高興：「好啊！很高興你找到新的願望和動力！」
.
我說：「有的時候自己頭腦是暈的，不知道到底要做什麼。在這個課堂上，抽支籤、或是忽然聽到一句特別觸動你內心的話，就可能啟發你，讓你的人生有一個大的轉折。希望你這個班有更大的收穫！」
.
我也祝福大家：
都能茅塞頓開，找到自己人生未來的目標和方向。
並且開創自己未來，更遼闊的一片天空。

Drawing divination lots – Is it really effective?

Students from all over the world came to Vancouver to attend the recent meditation retreat. Just before the class started, I ran into one of the students from Asia whom I know well. When she saw me, she asked me glumly,
“Master, I need your help. I’ve been really troubled recently; I have lost interest in food, movies and even traveling. I have visited all the famous mountains and rivers in many countries in Asia. Nothing seems to interest or motivate me anymore. What should I do?!”

I asked: “What happened? Have you run into difficulties at work? Or are your children giving you trouble?”

She replied: “Neither, Master! Someone is helping me manage my business and I am getting great results at work. The children’s careers are also off to a good start. There is nothing for me to worry about at all. But for some reason, I just feel very demotivated.” She looked down at her feet as she talked.

As I looked at her, I realized that she had been lost for some time. Every aspect of her life was so perfect that she has lost her motivation in life.

I told her, “The class begins tomorrow. Just focus on the class for now. Don’t worry too much.”
She nodded, “Ok.”

The next day, she came to look for me after class. She had undergone a vast transformation – she was jovial and full of energy. From afar, she called out to me, “Master! I feel as if your talk today was directed at me!”

I asked: “What happened?”

“Master, it’s really amazing! When I woke up this morning, I went to venerate Buddha and prayed for some inspiration during the class so that I can cheer up. I went to draw a divine lot right after that. Can you guess what?”

I asked curiously: “What lot did you draw?”

“The lot I drew told me to ‘Set a goal to help other people!’ I did not understand then how was I to help other people when I could not even help myself.

And then in your talk in class, you said this: You should set high goals for yourself. Once the goal is set, who knows, you might just let go of all the things that have been troubling you these few days. The pathways in your brain will clear. Your qi, blood, nutrition, oxygen… in fact, all your organs will function well. This is because setting a high goal for yourself is healthy for your spiritual self.

Right at that moment, I had a revelation – This is what the divination lot meant! My new goal is to help others for the rest of my life! Immediately I could think of so many things that I could do. Like you said, my brain gained clarity and I was filled with energy and motivation! All those troubles that I had disappeared without a trace!”

I was happy for her, “That’s fantastic! I am glad you have found your motivation and new goal in life!”

I continued, “All of us get confused and lose our direction sometimes. The words on the divination lot or what was said in class may touch you deeply, or even bring about a turning point in your life. May you gain even more benefits from the rest of the class!”

My wishes for everyone:
May you get enlightened and succeed in your search for the purpose and goal for your life. Forge your own paths for the future and soar into the vast blue sky in front of you.

【求佛、拜佛，為何佛不理你？】
.
我們用恭敬的心去供養佛菩薩，會得到佛光普照，帶給我們無量的光明、無量的呵護。
.
每個人因為所求的內容、願望不同，所以會帶給我們不同的效果。有的人說我的眼睛有點近視，求觀音菩薩給我弄好吧，因各種因緣的原因，可能暫時你這個近視眼好不了、可是你的智慧開了。
.
所以當我們所求的這個願望，這個佛菩薩給你的時候不是一比一時，那是因為祂站在大智慧的角度來看，哪些東西應該讓你去感受、哪些東西應該現在就給你、哪些好處應該十年之後才給你，是這樣的。
佛菩薩給我們的時候，會根據我們的需求、定力、承受力，一步一步地給我們，引導著我們走向一個真正的智慧和圓滿的人生。
所以，大家所求不能太過分，別太過於心急。

Why is Buddha ignoring you despite your prayers and pleas?

When we use our utmost respect in making an offering to Buddha, we will receive Buddha’s blessing of infinite illumination along with his boundless care and protection.

Given that everyone has different desires and wishes, each of our prayers will yield a different result. A person might perhaps wish for Guanyin Bodhisattva to help cure their myopia and regain their perfect vision. However, due to a variety of reasons, their myopia might not be cured but the person may have their wisdom unlocked.

So when the end result of our prayers do not exactly match our original desires, that is because Buddha first looks at your situation using his infinite wisdom and then decides how best to solve your situation, along with what you should receive now and what you would receive in the future.

When Buddha or Bodhisattva grants our wishes, they do so in accordance with our needs, inner strength and tolerance level. This is also done in a step-wise manner, guiding us toward a life of true wisdom and perfection.

Hence, we should refrain from asking for too much or be too anxious for your prayers to be answerwed.
